Broadway Musicals

Helloooo

I recently had the chance to watch two broadway spectacles and was quite delighted.

The first was ALADDIN! oh! You have a friend in me! It started on broadway on the 20th of March and its going strong. It is a very entertaining musical for all ages and the production is amazing.

The songs are beautiful and you will surely remember your childhood during the show. And watch out for the genie, he is the best! If you don’t like Aladdin, well, go watch James Monroe Iglehart act the best genie you will ever see.

Here is a link where you can find reviews from all the critics. Below is a video of one of the songs.

The second one, very much different from the first show, is The Book of Mormon- which I found out have the same Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw. The Book of Mormon, written by the creators of South Park, is meant to be carefully understood between the lines. The musical has a sarcastic undertone to all its songs and the story, critically analyzing the Mormon Religion (and it can apply to most religions obviously).

I went with someone whose english is her second language and didn’t quite understand all the sarcasm. But I laughed through the entire show. Lovely. And the songs stays  with you for a couple of days so prepare to say a lot of Hello (you’ll understand with the video shown below).

Here you can find some reviews posted on the NY Times about the show.

Hope you guys have the chance to watch them!
